Breakwater Construction on Three Islands to Complete December

The Seribu Island Water Resource Sub-agency targets to complete the construction of breakwater on three residential islands on December 8, 2024. The construction has been starting since June 12, 2024.

Seribu Island Water Resource Sub-agency Head, Mustajab, said the construction is part of Regional Strategic Program (KSD) to protect mainland from sea wave.

Mustajab explained the construction of breakwater on Tidung Island and Lancang Island, Seribu Selatan Sub-district, and on Panggang Island, Seribu Utara Sub-district spent Rp 56.12 billion.
"The budget allocation also includes building roads on embankments," he explained.
According to him, the embankment constructions almost reach 50 percent.
"The constructions are targeted to complete in 180 working days," he added.
Mustajab detailed, for the length of the embankment on Tidung Island, it is made 450 meters long with a width of 3 meters. Then, on Lancang Island there are two parts, the first part is 240 meters long with a width of three meters and the second part is 127 meters long with a top width of 1.2 meters and a bottom area of 4.8 meters.
"On Panggang Island, the planned length of the embankment will reach 152 meters, with a top width of 0.4 meters and a bottom width of 8.6 meters," he detailed.
He hopes that the construction of breakwaters on the three residential islands can be completed simultaneously this year, even though it is often hampered by high waves or high tides.
Meanwhile, RW 02 Head, Tidung Island Urban Village, Wawan, appreciated and thanked the Seribu Island Water Resource Sub-agency for constructing the breakwater.
"Monitoring and supervising will be conducted together with the residents. Hopefully the construction of this embankment can be completed according to target and provide optimal benefits," he hoped.
